How do I enable/disable my card options?
Contactless payments
All Qonto physical cards are equipped with NFC technology, which allows you to make contactless payments.
The contactless option can be enabled or disabled by one of your account Admins or your Manager in the card settings. Here are the steps to follow:
- 💻 From a computer: Go to Business Account › Cards. Select the card. On the right, under Settings, click the pencil icon to enable/disable Contactless payments.
- 📱 From mobile: Go to the Cards tab at the bottom right, select the card, then Card settings to toggle the option.
Online payments
The online payments option can be enabled or disabled by one of your account Admins or your Manager in the card settings. Here are the steps to follow:
- 💻 From a computer: Log in to your account and click on "Business Account" then "Cards", and choose the relevant card. On the right, scroll down to Settings and click the pencil icon to edit the options. You can then enable or disable Online payments and confirm your choice.
- 📱 From mobile: Log in and go to "Cards" at the bottom right, choose the relevant card, then Card settings, where you can choose to enable or disable online payments.
What options are available depending on the type of Qonto card?
Physical card
A physical card allows you to make payments in store or online (with PIN or contactless) as well as cash withdrawals. You can use it in Belgium and abroad.
On a physical card, the Owner, Admin or Manager can configure:
A custom card name visible in the interface (e.g. "Travel", "Office expenses"...)
Allow / block ATM withdrawals
Allow / block contactless payments
Allow / block online payments
Allow / block payments abroad
Days of use (e.g. Monday to Friday) - only available with the Team expense management add-on
Authorised spending categories - only available with the Team expense management add-on
Monthly spending limit (up to €200,000 for the X card)
Daily spending limit - only available with the Team expense management add-on
Per-transaction limit
Virtual card
A virtual card can be used immediately after creation, online or in store (by adding it to Google Pay / Apple Pay). If your physical card has not arrived yet, you can start making purchases by creating a virtual card.
On a virtual card, the Owner, Admin or Manager can configure:
A custom card name visible in the interface (e.g. "Google Ads", "LinkedIn", "Amazon"...)
Monthly spending limit (up to €20,000)
Daily spending limit - only available with the Team expense management add-on
Per-transaction limit
Days of use (e.g. Monday to Friday) - only available with the Team expense management add-on
Authorised spending categories - only available with the Team expense management add-on
Customise the virtual card by choosing its colour
Instant card
An Instant card is a temporary virtual card. It can be assigned to any member of your team for a specific need. It is available with the Team expense management add-on.
On an Instant card, the Owner, Admin or Manager can configure:
At creation: the allocated budget and the period of use
The budget can be adjusted during the chosen period of use
The period of use cannot be modified after creation. If the cardholder needs to make a payment after the chosen end date, the Owner, Admin or Manager will need to create a new Instant card.
Once created, a custom card name can be added to easily identify different Instant cards (e.g. "B2B Conference", "Client visit in Brussels", "Equipment purchase").
Employees can now pre-fill certain parameters when requesting a virtual card or Instant card via their Qonto interface. These settings can be modified and completed by an Owner, Admin or Manager at any time.
What are the limits?
For security reasons, certain limits apply to contactless payments:
Any single contactless payment above €50 will be automatically declined.
There is a limit of €150 for consecutive contactless payments.
Once this limit is reached, you will be asked to enter your PIN once to reset it.
