What identity documents are accepted by Qonto?

  • Updated

In order to comply with the regulations imposed by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) and the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA), we are obliged to verify the authenticity of the identity documents of Qonto's current account users, as well as the information they contain.
These verifications are necessary to combat fraud, money laundering, and the financing of terrorism.

💡 To ensure your document is acceptable, it must be in color, clear, uncut, unmasked, valid, and contain an MRZ data strip.

The validity period is judged against the expiration date on the document. Only French identity cards issued before 2014, to persons of legal age at the time of issuance, are extended by 5 years.
