Why does Qonto need to determine my place of birth?

As a financial institution, Qonto is subject to certain requirements to prevent money laundering and combat Terrorism. One of these requirements is registering the country and city of birth, information that is no longer available on the most recent editions of the Belgian national identity cards. In line with these requirements, Qonto may in some cases request supporting documents on which we can verify your country and city of birth. You can find out more via the National Bank of Belgium

What documents can i provide to confirm my place of birth?

To verify your place of birth we can accept one of the following documents:

  • EU drivers license
  • A EU passport
  • An extract of your birth certificate
