A negative balance is only allowed if you have an authorized overdraft activated on your account. This is why we always check your account balance before authorizing any payment.

Indeed, an insufficient balance makes it impossible to complete any new payment — including card payments, transfers, and direct debits — until you top up your account.
If your account balance is insufficient, you will receive an alert. This occurs when your current balance does not allow you to honor transfers, subscriptions, and direct debits that are scheduled for the next 14 days.
Depending on your activity and needs, you can choose to use Qonto as your company's main account or as a secondary account for all your daily operations.
