Qonto allows you to receive transfers in many currencies as well as from several countries around the world, via the SWIFT network.
The SWIFT network (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) allows for currency transfers worldwide. These are also known as "non-SEPA transfers."
We accept transfers in more than 50 different currencies!
Wise is our partner for incoming SWIFT transfers.
What does this mean? 🤔
This means your American clients can pay you in dollars (USD), and your Japanese partners can pay you in yen (JPY). You can also receive zlotys (PLN) sent from Poland, or rupees (INR) sent from India, and of course, euros! 🇪🇺
👉 See below: In which currencies and from which countries?
How long does it take to receive? ⏱
SWIFT transfers are credited to our clients' accounts within 5 business days, excluding weekends and public holidays. This timeframe varies depending on the time difference, the time the transfer was issued, the currency, and the sending bank.
For regulatory reasons, SWIFT transfers are subject to specific checks depending on the country of origin and the amount. We may contact you to request additional information before we can credit the funds to your account.
Concretely, how do I receive a SWIFT transfer? 🤓
Just like for a SEPA transfer, your partner will need to enter your Qonto bank details.
To retrieve these, simply go to the Business account > Transactions section, then click on Bank details. You can then download your bank details and send them to your client.
IBAN: FR76 1695 8000... (Although Qonto is available in Belgium, the IBAN currently remains French).
BIC: QNTOFRP1XXX
Intermediary Bank BIC: TRWIBEB3XXX
💡 As a new player in the banking world, we have partnered with Wise to ensure the receipt of your SWIFT transfers.
You will need to ask your clients to add the Wise BIC (in the "intermediary bank" field) in addition to the Qonto BIC when they send you a SWIFT transfer. This step is mandatory to receive a SWIFT transfer.
👆 Good to know: If the sender's interface does not allow this, they should contact their bank's back-office and request the addition of the Wise BIC as an intermediary bank.
These bank details are available in 5 languages: French, English, Spanish, German, and Italian. Your client will have all the necessary information to perform the transfer themselves or ask their bank to handle it.
👉 Good to know: All transfers passing through the USA, even if it is only an intermediary bank, incur a $20 fee.
⚠️ Why might my incoming SWIFT transfer be declined?
In accordance with EU Regulation 2023/1113 on the traceability of transfers of funds, Qonto is required to verify that all incoming SWIFT transfers include complete and valid sender information. Transfers that do not meet these requirements are automatically declined.Your transfer may be declined if the sender's bank has not included:
- A valid bank identifier (BIC) for the originating bank
- The sender's name (transfers with a missing or invalid sender name cannot be processed)
This is not an error on your part. These are regulatory obligations that apply to all payment service providers operating in the EU. What should you do if a transfer doesn't arrive? Please contact our support team via the chat bubble in your app or by email at support@qonto.com.
In which currencies and from which countries?
While we strive to offer the most common currencies, we are not yet able to receive all foreign currencies. 💸
However, our offer is evolving rapidly. If a currency is not in the list below, please let us know, and we will pass your request to our Product team.
👉 Although we support the receipt of transfers issued in all the currencies listed below, please note that your Qonto account can exclusively receive funds in euros. Amounts received in foreign currencies are automatically converted before being credited to your account.
